I famously refused to use Slack at Podcast Ally, which is why I am surprised as anyone to have discovered a Slack integration I now consider essential. At my company, we didn't use Slack, because I intentionally designed our workflows to eliminate interruptions and distractions, so the team could be more creative and focused. That way of working was a dream for all of us, but I know our situation was unique. I've since consulted with teams where I (begrudgingly) accept that Slack was a vital and necessary part of the toolbox. But none of those teams had a good solution for one of my main issues, which is how difficult it is to coordinate Slack threads and conversations with your SOPs and workflows. Slack is where documentation goes to die, brought up once in passing, and never to be found again. Last week, I met Yana Tornoe, one of the founders of Question Base, which is a tool that helps your team get their questions answered -- inside of Slack, as they ask them. Question Base helps you deliver answers to the team as they're asked (goodbye bottlenecks) and integrates with a lot of the popular platforms used for SOPs, so you can synch information across platforms. I'm a big believer in using tools on the platforms you already use, and not introducing more platforms than necessary, so I'm a huge fan of this integration.
